To measure a person's EEG waves, a snug cap that contains electrodes will be put on the persons' head. This electrode cap measures the electrical patterns coming from the brain, at 19 locations across the scalp simultaneously.

We measure the person's brainwave under different conditions such as:

Standard tasks are:

  • While resting quietly with his or her eyes open
  • While resting quietly with his or her eyes closed

Different cognitive tasks are given such as:

  • Reading a passage and comprehension
  • Solving Maths problems
  • Writing an essay and listen to music
  • Other specific areas of difficulty that the child has in performing.

We will discuss the above tasks with you so that it is manageable, at the same time specific for the child.

The duration of a Brain Mapping session will take 2 hours, including the setup time.

After this, the brainwaves data will be analysed. We will then contact you to arrange for a QEEG Review. This is where we will go through the QEEG analysis with you and explain the results of the brain waves patterns captured during the Brain Mapping session. If your child is going to do Neurofeedback, the training protocol will be derived from the QEEG Analysis.

Note that…
The person doing Brain Mapping has to wash and shampoo his/her hair in the morning prior to coming. This is to ensure that the contact of the brain with the electrodes is good and for minimal setup time (which takes about 45 minutes).
